Elk Hunting - The gun season for Montana Elk hunting is late October through November. The hunting area is a Forest Service Camp in the Gallatin National Forest south of Big Timber and north of the Absaroka / Beartooth wilderness. License deadline is March 15th.

Our elk area is open for bulls only, except cow permits awarded on a drawing basis. You must apply for your special cow permit by June 1st.
